Nucleic-acid manufacturing is buffer-intensive, and large plasmids are unforgiving of tight flow paths. Published work shows that channels wider than about 3.5 µm are needed to process plasmids up to 16 kbp without trapping the open-circular form and building up irreversible back-pressure. MonoCore™ ships with a 15 µm standard channel. Convective transport keeps runs short and the buffer volume per cycle low.
